- Scholarship Committee formed and develops criteria to award D-9 Foundation
Scholarships
- Dental Assistance program initiated in White City Elementary schools
by Foundation
- Received first major contribution from the Steele Family Trust to
assist in scholarships
- Awarded 4 scholarships to Eagle Point High School (EPHS) students
- A Benefit Dinner and Auction was added to the Golf Tournament to
generate additional funding
2002
2003
- 2nd Foundation sponsored,
EPHS Scholars Poster, “Education,
Our Bridge to the Future”, is printed as a group picture in front of the downtown covered bridge
- Benefit Weekend had over 150 guests attend the Dinner/Auction
- Galpin Family Scholarship was added to growing list of scholarships,
as a direct result of Scholarship auction item
- Foundation awarded $27,750 in scholarship assistance to 48 recipients
- An additional $50,000 was added to the D-9 Foundation Endowment with
the OCF
2004
- Dental Exam and Sealant Program sponsored by Foundation was
extended to all elementary students in School District #9 with
partners Windermere Foundation, Community Health Center of White
City, Jackson County Health Services, and Oregon Institute of Technology
Oral Hygiene Program
- Foundation’s dental assistance program added an “Urgent
Care” portion that provides emergency dental care for elementary students
who are under/non insured
- First mailing of “Alumni and Friends of D-9 Foundation”
newsletter to nearly 4,500 addresses was completed in spring
- Larry Stillman and David Poole Memorial
Scholarship funds were added to Foundation sponsored scholarships
- 70 scholarships with a value of $41,294 were awarded to EPHS graduates from the Foundation in the spring
- 3rd Foundation sponsored, EPHS
Scholars Poster, “Education, Keeping our Future Secure”, is printed as a group
picture in front of new FD #3 Station
- D-9 Foundation’s web site is improved and
information added to provide an excellent resource to distribute
information and provide documentation of our progress
- 19th Annual Scholarship Dessert was very successful with nearly
$11,000 contributed by caring members of community
- D-9 Foundation/ OCF endowment has grown
to over $300,000
2005
- 93 scholarships with value of $56,080 were awarded to 70 EPHS graduates from the Foundation in the spring
- Three of our board members retired: Don Donegan, Mel Morris and
Alex Boutacoff. We welcomed three new board members to the Foundation
and promptly elected two of them to office! New members- Sue Galpin, Debbie Brudevold
and Joe Scheffler.
- Added two scholarships for Certified Nurses Training at
RCC for students enrolled at the EPHS at the
VA through
a grant from the Gordon Elwood Foundation
- Added four $1,000 Dental Scholarships sponsored by Eagle Point
Dental Clinic for our graduates
- Added two Eagle Alumni Association scholarships for male and
female athlete graduates
- First Annual BizBee fund raiser spelling Bee in conjunction with the Eagle Point Rotary Club
- Published our 4th newsletter and mailed to over 5,000 friends and alumni
- 20th Annual Scholarship Dessert held on December 1
- Sponsored our 4th EPHS Scholars Poster,
“Judge Us On Our Merits” photographed in front of the 1912 Judge Stewart home
in downtown Eagle Point
- Established funding for EPHS seniors
who need financial assistance to pay tuition for Advanced Placement class credit for
SOU - AP classes offered at EPHS
2006
- Three board members retired, Phil Cam, Gail Rasmussen, Warren Helgeson and JoAnn
Stillman. Welcomed new board members Nick Parsons, Mark Hefley, Bob Kleker, Debbie
Pearson, and Mary Scheffler.
- Increased our endowment to over $350,000 in the
OCF. Are developing a very active gift planning program with Cristina Sanz, Regional
Development Director, for Southern Oregon, OCF.
- 3rd year for dental program in all D-9 Elementary
school grades. We are also underwriting a vaccination
program in the elementary schools beginning this year.
- Gave over 104 scholarships valued over $70,000 in the spring
- Added two new memorial scholarships to our growing list of endowed scholarships.
Bill Morgan Memorial, and
Greg Horn Memorial Scholarships.
- Sponsored our 5th
EPHS Scholars Poster
for EPHS grads coordinated by Murrit Davis and photographed by Virginia Sloat
2007
- Increased our endowment to over $442,000 in the OCF.
This represents a 61% return on our invested $275,000!
- Published 2nd alumni directory “
EPHS Alumni Directory 2007”
- D-9 Foundation presented the “Eagle Spirit Award” by the
student body of EPHS at an all school assembly
- 4th year for dental program in all D-9 Elementary school grades. Second year of underwriting a
vaccination program in the elementary schools.
- Gave over 100 scholarships valued over $76,050 in the spring
- Continued scholarships for Certified Nurses Training at
RCC and scholarships for
Dental Assistant Training for students enrolled at EPHS
at the VA
SORCC
- Established a new scholarship program, The Coughlin Family Scholarships,
for students entering registered nursing training with a contribution from Rita Coughlin
- 2nd year of providing scholarships for over 50 EPHS
students enrolled in the Advanced Placement Classes at EPHS who could not otherwise afford the tuition
- Continue to offer Dental Scholarships sponsored by Eagle Point Dental
Clinic for our graduates. This program is a reciprocal agreement that provides critical dental treatment
for the non insured students of School District 9.
- Continued our endowed scholarship programs that are permanently maintained in our
OCF account. These include:
- Continue our two Eagle Alumni Association Scholarships for male and
female athlete graduates
- Added a new athlete recognition scholarship thanks to Ted and Glenda Greb
- Published our 7th newsletter and mailed to over 5,000 friends and alumni
- Continued refining our web site to include much more information
- Sponsored our 6th Scholars Poster for EPHS grads photographed at the Eagle Point Museum
- The Class of 1978, has undertaken a scholarship
endowment drive that will result in at least a $20,000 endowment to present to Foundation next July
- Informed by several different individuals of the inclusion of D-9 Foundation
in their estate plans
- Foundation received a $13,000 grant from the new Wal-Mart
store of Eagle Point
- Two $2,500 scholarship opportunities for C&K (Ray’s) Market employees will be presented as
pass through grant from C&K Market Foundation to D-9 Foundation
- Another record setting Benefit Weekend, September 8 & 9,
was hosted by Foundation and brought in over $91,000.
- Mike Bowles announced his retirement as Chief Executive Officer at the Foundation’s October
Board of Directors meeting
- Nearly $10,000 was raised at the Scholarship Dessert held November 29. Funds to be used to
support the District #9 Community Scholarships awarded each spring.
